Middle school is a time of tremendous growth. At ReThink Microschools, students in grades 6–8 learn in small classes designed to provide the structure, individual attention, and academic challenge they need to build confidence and become more independent learners.
With just 8 students per class, teachers have the opportunity to truly know each student—their strengths, interests, challenges, and goals.

For some neurodivergent students, traditional middle school can feel overwhelming.
Large classes, frequent transitions, noise, social pressures, and increasing academic demands can make it difficult for capable students to show what they know.

Strong Academics Without the Large-School Environment
Students should not have to choose between academic challenge and appropriate support. Our middle school program provides instruction in core academic subjects while giving teachers the flexibility to meet students where they are and help them continue moving forward.
Students engage in:
English Language Arts
Reading, writing, vocabulary, research, discussion, and communication skills.
Mathematics
Standards-aligned mathematics with opportunities for individualized practice, problem solving, and real-world application.
Science
Hands-on investigations and inquiry-based learning that encourage students to ask questions, gather evidence, and solve problems.
Social Studies
History, geography, civics, and current topics taught through discussion, research, and meaningful connections.
Learning That Builds More Than Academic Skills
Inquiry & Hands-On Learning
Students learn by asking questions, exploring ideas, conducting research, experimenting, and solving problems. Hands-on experiences help students connect academic concepts to real-world situations while building curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration, and confidence in their learning process.
Executive Functioning Is Part of Learning
Executive functioning is built into the school day. Students strengthen organization, planning, time management, task initiation, assignment management, and self-advocacy while developing the habits and independence needed to manage increasing academic responsibilities with confidence.
Building ,Friendships & Independence
Middle school is also about learning how to connect, communicate, and grow. Students build confidence, practice friendship skills, strengthen self-advocacy, and take increasing responsibility for their choices, learning, and participation within the school community.
More Than Core Classes
Students have opportunities to explore interests beyond core academics through electives, technology, art, culinary experiences, student leadership, clubs, and independent projects. These experiences help students discover strengths, build relationships, and connect learning to personal interests.

ReThink primarily serves students who can participate successfully in a small classroom environment with teacher support. We are an academic private school rather than an intensive behavioral or therapeutic program.
